  1. Legacy activation request – InstallShield 2009 & InstallAnywhere 2010 (valid licenses)

    Hello everyone,

we are looking for guidance regarding the activation of legacy Revenera products:

    - InstallShield 2009

    - InstallAnywhere 2010

Our company owns valid licenses and registration data for both products. The software was originally purchased in 2011.

Unfortunately, activation is no longer possible:

    - Online registration fails because the registration servers appear to be offline.

    - Offline/manual registration also fails, most likely for the same reason.

We understand that these products are end-of-life and we are not requesting product support or updates. We only need a way to activate legally purchased licenses so we can continue maintaining existing projects. Migrating to newer versions is currently not feasible for us.

Since we do not have an Account ID, we cannot open a formal support case. Therefore, we would like to ask:

    - Is there a legacy or manual activation method available?

    - Can a license file, unlock code, or alternative activation process be provided for discontinued versions?

    - Is there an official contact path for legacy license activation without an Account ID?

Any guidance from the community or Revenera staff would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

  2. What can i do if reactivation after update is not possible.

In fact, deactivation of previous version (2024R2) is not possible due to "maximum number of returns is reached", according to the error message.ErrorDeactivationIShieldWe would really like to upgrade from 2024R2 version to 2025R1 in order to take advantage of the new features. Our licence is valid until December 2025, so it should be possible to upgrade.

What can i do to fix this problem ?

    Thank you for help.

  3. Can we trace back License Information using "Serial number", so that we can migrate to a new Windows Machine??

We're using a licensed InstallShield 2011 Professional version for a project and it is currently installed on a Windows machine that's running a very old OS (i.e, Windows7)

We intend to migrate to a new machine. But we have lost license information (The person who purchased the license is no longer working with us).

We can still see the Serial Number in the "About InstallShield" on the Installed Machine.

We are also looking at the possibility of upgrading to the latest 2025 version. I have tried to request a trial version twice, but i have not received any email.

    Please help and suggest.

      Hi @Shereef.Marzouk@DaySmart.com,

Thank you for your post. Please accept our apologies for the delayed response.

Here is a notice from Revenera about InstallShield 2013 and older versions:

      -----------------------------

      Important: InstallShield Activation Service Discontinued

We are informing you that the InstallShield Activation Service will be discontinued and no longer available starting July 1, 2022. The InstallShield Activation Service is used to support the reactivation logic required to continue using InstallShield versions 2013 or older.

Once the Activation Service has been discontinued, affected versions of InstallShield will not be able to reactivate their licenses and will become inoperable. Until then you may continue to use InstallShield 2013 or older. As always, we hope you are successful with our products!

We are sure you understand that technology changes rapidly. And while Revenera does a lot to support customers on end-of-life versions, as time passes and more customers move to modern versions of InstallShield, you may experience more changes in the future by choosing to stay on versions of InstallShield 2013 and older.

To avoid being impacted by these changes and ensure uninterrupted use of InstallShield, we advise users of InstallShield 2013 or older to upgrade to the latest version.

      -----------------------------

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks.

  5. Using trusted storage licenses in an Eclipse RCP based Java Application

We are using Flexnet publisher 11.19.6 for Java SDK.

To access the trusted storage from a Java based application, we have to put the mandatory dll files for native access to the trusted storage into the working directory.

Loading the dll files is NOT the problem.

They are properly found and loaded.

But when checking out a feature, then we get the following result:

Error List Returned (-513,7) ; Native Method Call Failed (-530,3103) (tsGetFeatureLines: flxInitLoad failed.: 1); Error List Returned (-513,4050)

We already tried to change the current working directory to the folder containing the dlls.

    Then the checkout works properly.

However this is not suitable for our Eclipse RCP based Java Application.

Is there a way to tell the Flexnet SDK for Java applications, that the dlls are in a certain location?

Or get it somehow else to work?

  6. Differentiation between development and a production license

I have licenses generated in production and UAT using flexnet cloud service. Now the issue is the licenses generated are node locked and not envirnment locked. So this results in the licenses generated on UAT flex net cloud and then be used on a production device. Is there a way to avoid this, as this will result in a revenue loss.

Hi @amidha Thanks for contacting the Revenera Community! We might need some additional details to fully address your question. It would be best to raise a support case so one of our engineers can assist you further.

      Best Regards,

  7. How can I use my license with other versions of InstallShield?

I have an InstallShield Premier subscription license that I am currently using with InstallShield 2023 R2. Can I use this license with InstallShield 2024 R2? How do I do that?

Can I use this license with InstallShield 2016 or any other lower version?
